LNF Users committee Activities
New User Orientation
The LNF users Committee is responsible for guiding the New User orientations Tours. These tours are the first introduction for new users to the inside of the facility. Users are taken on a walk through the facility, where they are shown the gowning/ungowning procedure and they are exposed to clean room etiquette. Users are also shown important safety features like showers, eye wash, fire extinguishers, alarm location, etc. Users are also shown tool location and how it relates to the process flow, kiosks to create, start and end tool reservations, microscopes, computers and supplies are located throughout the lab. The tour includes the main cleanroom, CAD room, LNF store and the ROBIN lab. New users find these tours highly informative and valuable. These tours take place on a weekly basis or as needed and they are hosted by LNF Users Committee volunteers. Book here!
Office Hours
The LNF User Commitee hosts an Office Hours in the LNF Conference Room (1340 EECS) for all LNF members to ask processing questions and get help. User Committee members have years of experience with a multitude of different technologies and are sometimes better equipped to help because they actually use the lab! Look for announcements in the monthly update and around the LNF.
Outreach Activities
ECE Family Fun Night 2023 LNF User Committee volunteers ran a demonstration table at ECE Family Night for members of the community, including children. Visitors learned about nano-scale phenomenon related to their lives that we use in the LNF.
Senior User
Senior users are volunteer lab users who have extensive experience working in LNF and are willing to help answer questions related to equipment and processes especially during times when LNF staff are not immediately available, such as during week ends or after regular work hours. Senior users have special nametags identifying them as “Senior Users”, green color name tag with a brown border, which indicates that other lab users can approach them with questions. Senior Users are not obliged to help other lab users if they are busy, and there is no expectation that Senior Users would spend more time in the lab than they ordinarily would. Volunteering to be a Senior User would simply mean that if you happen to be in the lab We hope that by having knowledgeable, experienced lab users give advice to newer lab users, the whole community will benefit.
