This is the procedure for changing Nano-Strip tank in the LNF. This applies to the Nano-Strip tanks in Acid 02, Acid 12, and Mask 13. This should only be done after you have checked the log book and verified the solution is >10days old or have used it and obtained unsatisfactory results.

It is important to only drain 1/2 the solution and then wait 20 minutes before you finish draining the solution. Nano-stip is so acidic that a full tank will overwhelm the AWN (Acid waste neutralization) system and cause out of compliance water to be released to the city water system.

Procedure

  • Reserve Bench
  • Activate Bench
  • Turn Bench on
  • Log tank change
  • Acid Bench 02 and Acid Bench 12
    • Turn on Tank Control
    • Open the Drain (press drain button twice). The first press it will beep 4 times and the drain light will flash. The second press it will beep once and the drain light will become solid.
    • Watch as the tank drains. When it is 1/2 empty close the drain (press the drain button once)
    • Dumping the entire tank at once will cause the Acid Waste Neutralization system to become overwhelmed
    • Wait 20 minutes.
    • Open the Drain (press drain button twice)
    • Fill tank with water
    • Drain water
    • Repeat fill tank with water
    • Repeat drain water
    • Fill tank with Nano-strip until Low Level Alarm turns off
    • Pour very slowly to avoid splashing
    • Rinse nano-strip bottle 3x or use bench bottle wash
    • Label bottle rinsed and dispose of in bottle recycle bin in 1480C
  • Mask Bench 13
    • Insert 1 aspirator into tank and turn on
    • When tank is 1/2 empty remove aspirator and place in QDR tank
    • Wait 20 minutes
    • Return aspirator to tank and aspirate remaining 1/2 of the solution
    • Fill tank with water
    • Use both aspirators to empty tank
    • Repeat fill tank with water
    • Repeat aspirating water from tank
    • Fill tank to just above silver heaters
    • Pour very slowly to avoid splshing
    • Rinse using bench bottle wash
    • Label bottle rinsed and dispose of in bottle recycle bin in 1480C
